Don’t you just hate how uncomfortable your desk at work is – especially when you’re trying to have a power nap during lunch time? Well, Kawamura-Ganjavian, a Madrid-based design studio has come up with a solution to the problem. An interestingly designed pillow called the Ostrich. In case you’re wondering why it’s called the Ostrich – the pillow does resemble the body of an ostrich, and like an ostrich, you’re sticking your head inside a dark hole (except yours isn’t a reaction due to fear). The Ostrich features a hole for your head, and two holes for your hands to grab onto. While it isn’t exactly a good posture for your back to be in, your face will be comfortable against the interior of the pillow. Talk about getting more than what you’ve bargained for, Panasonic has announced today the BG-BL01, which is a solar-powered LED light that can also double up as a charger for USB devices, such as smartphones, tablets or MP3 players for example. It comes fitted with three LED lamps (0.12W each) that when fully charged is said to be able to run continuously for 10 hours on the brightest settings, or up to 60 hours when the lamp is set on its dimmest settings. No word on how long it would actually take to charge a USB device like a phone, although we’re guessing this is more for emergency purposes, i.e. during a blackout or natural disaster where you need to keep the lines of communication open, rather than used for frivolous or regular charging. The solar-powered device runs on two AA batteries, which Panasonic claims will take up to 15 hours to fully charge in perfect conditions. Apple needs to explore new iPhone materials because the current glass back sucks. It gets dirty too easily. It's Russian-hooker naff. And it's way too fragile. Thankfully, there's a fix for that: JackBacks. JackBack feels more natural, organic and artisanal than others, most probably because the way they are finished—sealed, sanded, and finished with a Tung oil. It's very pleasant to touch. And instead of getting dirty, the more you touch it, the more beautiful it looks: Your skin oils will naturally give the wooden back an even better look and texture. After a month of use, mine looks much better than the first day. Installation is quick and easy: Take off a pair of screws with the provided tool, take out the glass back, install this one. Air guitar, an ancient tradition for those of us who don’t actually know how to play a guitar, along with air drumming, air piano and I want to say air bass? Well thanks to this Kickstarter project that plans to turn your iPhone into an air guitar, your dreams of rocking out without actually knowing how to play a guitar may very well come true, assuming if the creators of the Air Guitar Move manages to raise $25,000 in the next 25 days. The Air Guitar Move is a combination of a motion sensing pick attached to the dock connector on your iPhone, along with an app that would allow you to rock out on your iPhone any time and anywhere. This is not a street legal version of the fantasy vehicle in the 3D blockbuster that was screened at the end of last year, as it measures just 40″ long (or should we say, short?), but underneath the hood you will find an ATX motherboard, liquid cooling, and a generous number of blue light strips. Designer Franklin Gaw has come up with an interesting concept that brings new life, quite literally, to camping lanterns. It can help you replant the woods you enjoy walking through while also lighting your way. The idea is to have the lantern double as a terrarium, which can grow saplings of native trees. When the sprout is large enough to plant, you pop open the lantern, and transplant the sapling to help replant the forest. The idea is interesting enough but I can't help but wonder how the heat from the light source affects the sapling. The lantern would need to use an LED bulb and probably have an open top or some way to let the excess heat escape so that it doesn't burn the foliage of the plant. That, or use a bulb so dim that it can't necessarily help you find your way through the woods at night. ( Gizmodo )

This robot has been developed by Japanese researchers to take advantage of 'ground effects,' which allows the craft to hover off the ground at an extremely low height, thereby avoiding friction. The idea behind a craft is that it will someday be used as a train replacement. The lack of friction means it's able to travel as fast (possibly faster) than a train (which rubs against a rail and wears it down), and in theory, would be cheaper and more efficient than a maglev train, which has a significant drag coefficient. On the downside, this thing controls like a plane, with pitch, roll and yaw having to be taken into consideration. We love superlatives—and right now USB 3.0's super speed is a great one. Also nice? Anything world's smallest. That's what PQI is claiming of their newest flashdrive. But is this thing even relevant anymore? We're living in the Dropbox era-I can beam an album, text, or naked pictures to anyone in the world without the need for barbaric physical media. Still, when it comes time for heavy lifting—say, swapping TV seasons with an office buddy or collaborating with obese HD video files, having a blazing, tiny USB drive can be a godsend. This skeletal computer absolutely WILL NOT run Crysis. However, it will (just barely) get you up and running on the internet, and is so small it can dangle from your keychain (though I don't recommend it). Equipped with a 700 MHz ARM 11 processor, 128 MB of RAM, a USB port, and room to add a webcam or wi-fi module, the Raspberry Pi is a shrunken down version of that Gateway computer you had over a decade ago, except it's just a circuit board...nothing else. Aut that computer didn't run Ubuntu 9, which I'd definitely take over Windows ME (and probably Windows 2000 as well). AT&T's ARMZ: An Emergency Cellular Tower in a SuitcaseAT&T Just started selling the ARMZ, a cellular tower that fits into a suitcase. It's meant to fill the air with cellular signals in the case of a disaster where existing towers cease to work or, well, exist. There are fixed location and vehicle mounted ARMZ kits, but the fly away set up is the most interesting because of its portable nature—Even if by "portable" we mean well over 100 pounds and powered by generator. The kit has a dish for satellite uplink, 2 radios that support up to 28 callers and an antenna. And the ARMZ, which stands for AT&T Remote Mobility Zone, runs off a generator. Sat uplink occurs in under 30 minutes, and the system has a range of half a mile, claims AT&T. ARMZ costs between $15,000 and $45,000, depending on the configuration, plus a service plan of $2700 a month. Not that you'd be able to get one to patch in during a camping trip, even if you had the cash—The setup...

Think about it, instead of having a straight tube ink refill, how about fashioning it as a spiral? Agreed it occupies a bit more space so the pen can’t be sleek and slim, but it holds double the amount of ink! There’s a reason why our DNA is structured in a double helix. This S95-styled point and shoot, the Midnight Shot NV-1, is the perfect camera for perverts. Why? Cause it has an infrared-night shot mode which can let you see through thin fabric and other materials. It has a regular mode too! But the night-shot mode is where the nudie cam comes in. It gets the blocking filter out of the way, letting all infrared light through while a super bright IR LED "invisibly" illuminates everything in the picture. That infrared light can actually penetrate thin clothing, and since the camera can capture the infrared light, the clothing in the picture turn see through.
