After all the buffoonery over what exactly T-Mobile intended to call its newest entry-level Danger device, "Sidekick." Look at 400 x 240 WQVGA display, 2 megapixel camera with video recording capability, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and a microSD slot. Sidekick comes close to LX territory, so it should see some solid movement at the $149.99 asking price on a two-year contract. The Sidekick becomes Danger's first device with user-customizable shells, available directly from sidekickshells.com for $14.99 a pop. The whole shebang goes on sale starting today.

World's First Cellphone with Projector

Chinese company Cking has gone ahead and built what may be the first production phone with a projector built in.It's a chunky candybar with the picoprojector beneath a lens on the top end. Apparently it's a 640 x 480 resolution projector with manual focus, a picture size up to 30-inches and the battery can give it about two hours of projection time. The LED light source must generate fair whack of heat, since the phone is punched full of holes at the projector end, presumably so that it doesn't collapse into a molten heap of parts.

Panasonic’s Portable Solar Light

Talk about getting more than what you’ve bargained for, Panasonic has announced today the BG-BL01, which is a solar-powered LED light that can also double up as a charger for USB devices, such as smartphones, tablets or MP3 players for example. It comes fitted with three LED lamps (0.12W each) that when fully charged is said to be able to run continuously for 10 hours on the brightest settings, or up to 60 hours when the lamp is set on its dimmest settings. No word on how long it would actually take to charge a USB device like a phone, although we’re guessing this is more for emergency purposes, i.e. during a blackout or natural disaster where you need to keep the lines of communication open, rather than used for frivolous or regular charging. The solar-powered device runs on two AA batteries, which Panasonic claims will take up to 15 hours to fully charge in perfect conditions.
